 The importance of management has increased considerably in recent years due to the increase in the size and complexity of organizations, turbulent environment and increasing business responsibilities.

 Sound management helps maximize production and reduce costs.  It maintains a dynamic balance between an organization and its ever-changing environment.  Management is responsible for the creation, survival and development of organizations.

 USA  President Roosevelt once said: "A government without good management is a house built on sand." Management makes an important social contribution by supplying goods and services, employment, tax revenue, etc.

 According to Yurick and Brecht, "no ideology, no 'ISM' any political theory can win more production with less effort from a given complex of human and material resources except sound management.  And it is such a large production that high standard living, more leisure, more facilities are needed for all. “Management is an important part of an industrial society.

 In a developing country like India, the importance of management can hardly be overemphasized.  High efficiency and high productivity are the only hope of the people, more than 60 percent of whom are living below the poverty line.

 A welfare state cannot realize its twin objectives of economic development and social justice without a well-organized management system.  The root cause of India's backwardness lies in the encroachment and revelation of the country's resources.

 The most important reason for the poor performance of our development plans is inadequate and inefficient administrative machinery.  In the public sector we have a sinking of Rs. In the absence of competent and dedicated management, investment is not being properly utilized.

 Poor management in the private sector is the main cause of the disease.  We are underdeveloped because we are unnecessary and mismanaged. Dedicated and professional managers can convert people's tremendous latent energy into wealth.

 According to the late President John F. Kennedy, the role of management in our society is important for human progress.  It serves to improve the standards of living of all people through the effective use of human and material resources.

 By designing job structures that provide opportunities for self-expression, and initiative, management provides human satisfaction.  Management makes all the difference in quality of life between nations. Thus, management is an essential tool of human progress and the main stone of modern society.
